New York State Police troopers on patrol at approximately 2:15 a.m. on Wednesday morning conducted a traffic stop of a 2006 Nissan in LaGrange, when the driver, Queens resident Omari Laviscount, 28 committed a vehicle and traffic violation.
During the stop, troopers reported that there was a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, prompting further investigation, which determined that Laviscount and his passenger, Brooklyn resident Tyrone Harper, 32, were in possession of approximately 17 grams of crack-cocaine, 209 grams of heroin, three grams of marijuana and more than $1,800 in cash.
Both men were arrested and charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, felonies. Harper was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
Following arraignment in the Town of LaGrange Court, both Laviscount and Harper were remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail. Each is due back in court later this month to answer the charges.
